Since they were first discovered in 1907 they have done nothing but been advanced and put into different kinds of appliances. If you try and look at a scientific explanation of these you will surely become lost in a bunch of big words and explanations that are hard for the ordinary person to understand, yet they infiltrate our society at every level.

If you try and look at a scientific explanation of these you will surely become lost in a bunch of big words and explanations that are hard for the ordinary person to understand, yet they have managed to infiltrate our society at every level.
"They" are light emitting diodes, or LEDs.
You know that LEDs are used in your television set, and TVs continue to advance each year. A new technological way of making the light-emitting diodes become clearer and have better color rendering helps to allow your TV picture to be sharper, clearer, and more colorful than ever before.
How about the other uses of light-emitting diodes? How about the timer on your stove that allows you to not worry about burning your supper or lunches that you fix in it. Even the display on a microwave is light-emitting diodes. And microwaves are probably in every household in America, and possibly close to every house in the World. What a great invention in itself that was, you can cook stuff quickly, and you're using light-emitting diode technology to time your food!
Light-emitting diodes are also used in radios; they show you the time and the frequency of the station you are listening too. Plus car stereos are the same the display is thanks to light-emitting diodes.
As you can tell by the samples of where light-emitting diodes are being used they can be very small and in fact they can be shaped in numerous ways very easily. This allows places that you put or use and light-emitting diode to be very flexible. Plus they operate at a low operating temperature and can even be designed to be waterproof.
It's amazing how advanced these have become through the years. Another application that light-emitting diodes are used in is the growth lamps to help and promote plants photosynthesis. Also in flashlights, and car lights.
