If you exclude the Wii for the time being and compare these two units as superior gaming and multimedia machines which one reigns supreme?
First off for some time now the Xbox has been easier for developers to build games for. I am by no means a programmer this is however what has been echoed for some time. I have been told that many improvements have been made on the PS3 interface but is still behind the Xbox. For the most part the Xbox's interface is easier to use than the PS3.
Now what about the multimedia site of things. First off the PS3 wins in this category hands down because is comes with a Blu-Ray player. If you add the fact that the hard drive on the PS3 is 80gb and is easily expandable when movie streaming hits the market and it appears to be the PS3 is in a much better place.
With that in mind Xbox has already inked a deal with Netflix to allow downloads of their DVD library to American subscribers. Sony has announced streaming movies from of course Sony and Warner Brothers.
When it comes to comparing the systems overall the PS3 is far
more complicated and will likely not require any major update or platform change for many years to come. Xbox is planning a new platform release within the next 3 years which will for the time being make it the superior system no doubt.
Are there any reasons to choose one over the other because a gaming franchise? Let's break down which units have which games. First off the Xbox has the popular Halo franchise. This hugely popular game has increased Xbox sales directly. On the PS3 side for many years it was the Grand Tourismo series, that being said Xbox has an equal game in Forza.
While there are many things to look at when purchasing a gaming system here are some overall thoughts. The Xbox according to many is the superior system for gaming and the interface is easier to navigate and will accommodate Netflix quite well. The PS3 however is more of a computer than anything and in time will be the superior system overall. Built in wi-fi, a larger hard drive, hard drive expandability and the Blu-Ray players make it the overall winner in my eyes.
At the end of the day the choice is yours, happy gaming and let's all be honest the Wii is the most fun to play!
